It’s people that make stories memorable.
For the past four weeks we’ve been bringing you "Workouts that Work" as part of my Around Central Illinois reports, and boy have we met some people!
There’s the latest - Callista Suarez - an 18-year-old high school senior from Springfield who, just by walking, has lost 100 lbs. She started a year ago at 315 lbs and has been walking with determination ever since.
Then there’s Erik Welch, a man who was born with cerebral palsy and has suffered not one, but two, traumatic brain injuries during his 30+ years. He showed us how easily adaptable poses in yoga can heal not only the body but the mind as well.
Of course, we can’t forget the fitness couple, Mark Briggs and Kim Ginos, who are incorporating a “wedding workout” into their marriage ceremony in June. Their love of exercise, and teaching others, brought them together…and brought us a killer cardio/leg series you can see here.
Finally, simplicity. With the help of a personal trainer, we showed you how your chair can actually become an asset for working out at work!
It has been such a blast telling these stories over the past month, and an even greater honor meeting the people making a difference in their lives and the lives of others.
"Workouts that Work" on WAND are ending this week, but the road to a healthy lifestyle never does.
If you have an idea for a workout that works, let me know. I’d love to talk to you.
